Mentoring
We are more than just a festival...
•The Speightstown Allstars was set up in 2021 as a non-profit organization to foster collaboration between Bajan and visiting performers.
• We foster the arts in Barbados by offering free workshops and tuition from visiting artists to local performers.
• We promote the careers of local artists by mounting private showcases and providing support to singers wishing to study abroad.
• Our mentorship project provides support to Bajan opera singers of exceptional talent. Three singers already benefit from vocal tuition from Melinda Hughes.
• The project fills the critical gap between where they now stand and being at a standard to embark upon an international career. This means vocal tuition, audition technique, movement and acting classes, repertoire and language coaching and exposure to live theatre, opera and networking opportunities.

Plans for each of our students are already underway to attend opera courses and auditions this summer in Europe and the UK. If you would like to be a supporter of the Allstars Festival, to help these talented singers realise their full potential, please email the Artistic Director Melinda Hughes.
Supporters will be invited to exclusive events and kept up to date of the progress of each of our mentorees.
