The Allstars Festival was set up by the British opera singer and comedian Melinda Hughes. She first visited Barbados in 2014 to perform at the Holders Season and fell in love with the island.
Melinda curated concerts and shows for five years at Cobblers Cove as well as for the 2020 Barbados International Film Festival. She formed the Speightstown Allstars, a non-profit organisation which promotes the collaboration between Bajan and visiting artists.
The Allstars Festival not only provides a wonderful addition to the social calendar but enhances Barbados position as a cultural destination. The team helps foster the Arts by facilitating free workshops, masterclasses and tuition from visiting artists as well as providing support to singers wishing to study abroad.
During lockdown Melinda produced moral-boosting videos, including Beautiful Barbados (starring RPB, Alison Hinds & Sir Cliff Richard) and wrote and produced Barbados Barbados.
